Poco X3

Hi Everyone. So the much anticipated POCO X3 is here. And to start with, this is not the rebranded one (as POCO X2 which as per many, was a rebranded Redmi K30) , but actually a unique POCO phone. Xiaomi’s sub brand POCO announced the all new POCO X3 starting at Rs.16999/- (6GB+64GB), Rs.18499/-(6GB+128GB) and the higher variant at Rs.19999/- (8GB+128GB) which has been powered by new Snapdragon 732G processor.

On first look this new POCO phone has somehow carried on the design and built legacy of POCO F1. So how he the whole package ? Is is good enough to buy ? Is is a worthy upgrade to POCO X2 ? Lets Find out.

Build and Design

Design and built-wise POCO X3 will surely catch your eye. Although the back panel comes with polycarbonate (bit of bummer), but over all it looks unique with it’s design pattern, matt looking finish with a big POCO written on middle of the panel. Personally I don’t like big brand names on back of the phones , but smartphone markers has been doing this frequently. Apart from this, similar to POCO X2, there is round camera bump with a reflective ring around it and feels good. It may attract finger print smudges easily.

Rest of the design is similar to POCO X2, so we have the volume and power keys on the right edge, the fingerprint scanner still integrated into the power. We have secondary mic , IR blaster and proximity sensor on the top. With it’s 6000 mAH battery stuffed inside this phone weighs around 225 g which some may feel bit bulky. Usual Type-C port and headphone Jack is also available. Face unlock for security is also available.

Well there is the 3.5 mm headphone jack available here and comes with type-c USB port down at bottom and Dual Stereo Speakers.

You can get this new smartphone in two color options of Cobalt blue and Shadow gray.

Display

POCO X3 comes pack with 6.67-inch Full HD+ punch hole display display, screen resolution of 2340x1080p and protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Very thin bezels. Now the highlighted feature by POCO is the 120 Hz Refresh Rate display with 240 Hz Touch Sampling Rate to experience the enhanced fluidity in touch responsiveness of the phone.

There is HD support for Netflix and Amazon Prime videos for your entertainment.

Camera

The main camera setup in POCO X3 is a quad camera setup (no surprises here) with Main sensor of (64MP) + Ultra Wide (13MP) + Macro (2MP) + Depth (2MP). All usual features of Night Mode, AI Scene Detection, Ultra Wide Angle, Pro Mode, Portrait Mode, Panorama Mode, Video, Short Video, VLOG, Google Lens, Slow Motion (at 960 fps). Plus video shooting at 4K (at 30 fps), 1080P (at 60 fps).

In front camera , unlike the POCO X2 having dual camera , this time POCO has provided a single 20 MP camera in the front. This one can shot videos at 1080P (at 30 fps) and 720P (at 30 fps).

Processor, Storage and Performance

POCO X3 comes with an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G  (8 nm) Octa core processor coupled with Adreno 618 GPU. POCO X2 was having Qualcomm Snapdragon 732 and there is not much difference both these processor, but that 732G is slightly clocked over. This will be smooth for your day to day multi tasking as well as playing high end games. POCO X3 also has LiquidCool Technology that comes with added layer of Graphite Sheet that keeps the temperature under control even while playing high end games or watching videos for long hours.

Overall real life performance will be really good.

But when comes to storage , there is no dedicated micro SD slot, but an hybrid slot. This will not be liked by many. The POCO X3 comes with RAM options of 6GB and 8GB and internal storage support of 64GB & 128GB GB. The external storage support of 512GB.

Operating System/ Software

POCO X3 runs on MIUI 12 designed as POCO Launcher based on Android 10 . MIUI 12 is a good and refreshed custom skin with lots of customization option. These are one of those custom UI which has regular updates and community support. And this POCO launcher has no Ads. Big relief.

Battery

This new POCO X3 packs a 6000 mAH battery with 33 Watt fast charger (in the box). This is an upgrade and you will have no problems in long gaming session and can get about 1.5 days usage in normal use.

Connectivity and Network

There is support dual VolTe with all usual connectivity options. And thanks to Snapdragon 732 G processor, there is support of latest Bluetooth version 5.1. There is secondary mic for noise cancellation. All required sensors like Acceleration Sensor, Gyroscope, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, E-Compass, Fingerprint Sensor available.

Conclusion

POCO X3 is indeed successor of POCO X2 with better processor, design and battery performance. A good gaming phone within budget. Only downside being bit bulky in feel and polycarbonate back. All essentials features to rival under 20K likes of Samsung , M31 , M51 and Realme phones like Realme 6 , Realme 7 Pro.

If you are a POCO fan , you can definitely give it a try or upgrade. Even if your are not , than also a good buy under 20k. We would suggest don’t go for lower storage option and better go for at least 6GB+128GB version at Rs.18499, as there is no dedicated micro SD card.

The sale for POCO X3 has started from today i.e 29.09.2020 from Flipkart.
