And to the first impression of the new Mi Smart Speaker, it’s here to rival the market dominant Amazon Eco dot (Alexa) and Google Home mini which have been the best choice from last few years when it’s come to smarts speakers.
This new smart speakers is actually runs with Google smart assistant similar as Google Home mini or nest series.
Design and Built Mi Smart Speakers
The built quality is premium and solid. Whereas Eco Dot & Home mini comes with fabric cover, this one actually comes with a all metal mess design. The Mi Smart Speakers have quite a lot of weight to it (853 grams) , which means it is having a large set of magnetic drive. On top you will find a plastic panel which has capacitive control touch buttons (volume, play/pause & mute) and two far filled microphones. There is only one hole-in jack for power adapter. To makes things clear, this is not a portable speaker , but actually needs power supply.
Similar to Amazon Eco Dot, there is a lighting strip on the top circle for that on-off and music effect.
Sound and Mic.
This Mi Smart Speaker comes with 2.5” full frequency 12 watt speakers ( speakers which is the biggest you get in any entry-level smart speaker) with DTS Professional audio tuning. It is powered by Texas Instruments’ TAS5805M Hi-Fi Audio processor. It has two microphones with far field quality to catch your voice command from distance and even when you are playing music on the speakers. It is a front firing speakers.
By tapping the mute button on top, you can mute the speaker’s listening, means it will not be listening to your conversation/ commands any more. This speakers comes with control for base and treble to make your sound experience better. The sound is quiet loud and clear and somehow even louder & better than Eco dot.

Mi Smart speaker work similar to a Google Home mini or nest. If you have used a smart speakers before , you will find it very easy to use and control your IOT devices (internet-of-things). It has support of Google chrome cast.
To use , you just need to connect it the Google Home app on your mobile and the app will automatically recognize this as smart speakers. No other party app required.
