We will be looking and review the most premium one “Mi Notebook 14 Horizon Edition Intel Core i7“.

Here the pricing is not in typical Xiaomi’s style. It has kept it pricing as per market segment and tried to create a light weight , good built with powerful hardware package. So, will it be wise to buy this new laptop ? Lets see…..

Review

Display- Mi Note book 14 Horizon comes with 14-Inch (1920X 1080 )Full HD Anti-Glare Screen. The display quality is really good and immersive. Thin bezels and edge further enhance the viewing experience. And …this is not a touch display. Don’t go on the name, its not a 2-1 note pad cum laptop , its a pure laptop and has been designed accordingly.

The company claims to have provided 91% Screen-to-body ratio, which is quiet impressive. Most importantly it has NVIDIA® GeForce® MX350 Video Memory Size – 2GB GDDR5 V RAM. This makes it suitable for running games and high end software.

Built & Design- The body is fully metal made of aluminium-magnesium alloy. Weight at at around 1.35 kg it’s very easy to carry and light weight. Being just 17.15 mm thick, it will easily slide into you office bag or back pack. Design has been kept minimalist and with branding logo on top.

One thing you will notice that, it does not have a Webcam in the front and it can be worrying for some. But to make up for it they have included USB webcam in the box. There is full size keys in keyboard and they are comfortable to use for long longs too. ABS Texture Keys, 1.3mm Travel Distance and a Dust Protection Layer.

But one disappointing thing here is that “there is no back light” and believe me if you have used one, know its importance. At this price point this should have been included. There is support of multi touch track pad.

Hardware & Software– This model comes with 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10510U processor clocked at 1.8 GHz base speed, 4.9 GHz max speed, 4 Cores, 8 threads. This give advantage to Xiaomi over other brands available in this segment. Combined with a powerful graphics NVIDIA® GeForce® MX350, you can enjoy your games like GTA V, Doom, Firefly etc. There may be some minor lags or frame drop.

This variant comes with memory capacity of 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 RAM and a storage of 512GB PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe SSD, which is really good.

Comes with various connectivity options like Type-C port, USB 3.1, USB 2.0, HDMI, Combo Audio Jack etc. Bluetooth 5.0.

It has also 2W Stereo Speakers with DTS Audio Processing, firing downward sound. The sound is loud, but not very crisp for music listening.

On software part, it runs with Windows 10 Home edition operating system. It has pre-installed Office 365 (one month Trial subscription). On bloatware, there are two Xiaomi’s application pre-installed i.e Smart Share & Blaze Unlock.

Performance- With good hardware and software combination, the performance in its initial usage is satisfactory. You can easily perform you day to day task, coding, software running with ease. No problem here. But while gaming for long hours with high end games, it may get hot and you may feel fans running to cool it down. At this price, the overall performance is good.

Battery- Mi Note book 14 Horizon come packed with a 46Wh battery and a 65W charger. The company claims to give backup of up to 10 hours and 50% charging in 30 mins. The average back up is in between 8- 10 hrs depending upon usage , which is pretty decent.

Conclusion- Should you buy this Mi Note book 14 Horizon edition.? If your budget is around 55k-60k and looking for a decent hardware combination, good design for multitasking , coding,  you should buy it. It is definitely a powerful laptop in price segment and will serve your purpose. Good built and design. Nice and immersive display.

But if you are a hard core gamer , its not a ideal choice with few short comings.

You can buy it from here..

Hope , this review will come in handy while deciding to buy this laptop. Please comment and share your experience.  This is Gadgetbaaz signing off.
